Allowing God to Direct our Lives

In our grief we forget to look for God’s purpose in the tragedies in our lives.  Jacob lamented, “everything is against me” (42:36).  Joseph was reunited with his brothers and showed anger over what they had done to him years before.  But as we deal with our grief, we begin to remember God, renew our trust in him, and allow his purpose to work in our lives.  Jacob collected himself and planned for the success of his sons’ trip to Egypt.  Joseph got over his anger and quietly made plans to fulfill God’s promise by reuniting the family of Israel in Egypt.
